StructuralWiki uses semantic web technologies to syndicate data with other sites such as Freebase or DBpedia.

The main goal of StructuralWiki is gather and organize information, data, references, and past experience for the professionals in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, with primary focus on structural engineering. The points below further illustrate the goals and philosophy of StructuralWiki:

  • Provide free information of high quality, both original and compiled from other sources.
  • Promote knowledge exchange and technology transfer.
  • Target audience: StructuralWiki is being developed for design professionals, construction professionals, students, researchers.
  • Commercial information policy: commercial information can be included only of provides quality technical information, otherwise will be removed.
  • Complement software database by BridgeArt.net with additional information about software programs for AEC, contributed by visitors. This information can include original information and links to online articles, tutorials, etc.
  • Site design: simple and clean site design with easy navigation.
  • Form partnership with other AEC information providers.
  • Generate enough revenue (through advertising, donations, sponsorship, etc.) to become financially self-supported.
