Below is a brief summary of computational analysis methods that covered in this section.

Static analyses

Static analyses can be classified as (Ziemian 2007):

  • 1st order elastic analysis: [K_e]\{\Delta} = \{F\}
  • 2nd order elastic analysis: [K_e + K_g]\{d\Delta} = \{dF\} (P-Delta effects are considered)
  • 3rd order elastic analysis: [K_e + K_g]\{d\Delta} = \{dF\} (large displacements are considered)
  • 1st order inelastic analysis: [K_e + K_p]\{d\Delta} = \{dF\}
  • 2nd order inelastic analysis: [K_e + K_g + K_p]\{d\Delta} = \{dF\} (P-Delta effects are considered)
  • 3rd order inelastic analysis: [K_e + K_g + K_p]\{d\Delta} = \{dF\} (large displacements are considered)
