Dynamics notation

The following notation is used throughout the dynamics topics:

• $c$ ... damping coefficient (kN-sec/m)
• $c_{c}$ ... critical damping coefficient (kN-sec/m)
• $m$ ... mass (kg)
• $\xi$ ... critical damping ratio (unitless)
• $\omega$ ... undamped natural circular frequencies (rad/sec)
• $\omega _{D}$ ... free-vibration frequency of damped system (rad/sec)
