Stress ribbon bridges are structures whose structural system consists of slightly sagging tension cables embedded in thin concrete slab. The slab serves as a deck and its only function is to distribute local local loads and preserve continuity. The structural type is very simple, but large forces in the cables require expensive anchorages.
