Gray column

A structural steel column composed of eight angle irons riveted together in pairs, and stayed at short intervals by bent batten plates attached to the connected legs. The strut is in the form of a square cross, having the connected pairs of legs turned inward. Named after its inventor, John Gray, Esq., C.E.
